about

1. This is not a portfolio.
This is Jessie Rauch-Dickson’s master’s thesis in graphic design, featuring: research, failed experiments, works-in- (perpetual) progress, and long-winded explanations for it all.

My portfolio can be found at: http://design.jessierauch.com

2. It’s a body of work.
My thesis topic is graphic design satire. This isn’t all the work I did in grad school, but the stuff I did that relates to my topic.

3. There’s a book.
This website essentially abbreviates, summarizes and supports my 350-page thesis book.

4. Three presentations were given.
I introduced my topic to the department in November 2007.
I gave a brief talk on my research-to-date in February 2008.
And I delivered a 20-minute final presentation to assembled faculty, students and critics as part of my thesis defense in May 2008. All of these presentations are available on this site (final presentation forthcoming), whether anyone will choose to sit through them remains to be seen.

5. I graduated.
I totally graduated. So this website will not be updated much after the summer of 2008.

6. But wait, there’s more.
Many of my very talented classmates also have websites. If you simply can’t get enough graphic design or master’s theses, I highly suggest visiting them as well.
